Heaven and Earth Acupuncture

http://www.qi-rejuvenation.com/Qigong%20page.htm

Qigong, pronounced chee-kung, means energy work. You may have heard of or seen T'ai Qi, the slow moving exercise popular in Chinatown parks. Qigong is a series of "exercises" that are derivatives of the T'ai Qi form. Done in a standing posture, these sacred movements are used today to improve health and enhance performance in modern life. Legend has it that ancient Taoist monks in the mountains of China observed animals and the cycles of nature to devise these simple movements, which are designed to promote the flow of blood and qi, the electromagnetic energy that animates our physical form.

Whereas the ancient Chinese cultivated their qi primarily to "achieve immortality" and presumably to make things vanish in clouds of smoke when necessary, modern students mainly practice to achieve deeply peaceful states of mind, improved energy, balance and coordination, and to heal illness. Qigong is capable of all this and more, if it is taken seriously and learned from a truly qualified teacher.

I first got into studying qigong when I was 22, in a class at Precott College in Arizona, in 1992. I was lucky to have a "real" teacher, or some one who understood the system of Qigong as a matrix in their own body, cultivated over years. If you are interested in very non- taoist things like lineage, please go to energyarts.com, which is BK Frantiz's web site. He is the lineage holder in the system I trained in. Scroll down on the left to Liu Hung Chieh, who was my teacher's teacher. That guy had some serious Qi.

Zen Tea In One 禪茶一味

http://www.tea-antwerp.be/blog/

Qigong (ch’i kung) is a general description for different traditional meditative and energy exercises based on the principles of traditional Chinese Medicine and there are more than 3000 different forms.

Daoyin has been practiced by Chinese more than thousands of year, nobody really know how long. But we do know Taoists practice Daoyin to improve health condition with the hope for longevity, i.e. Wu Chun Si (documentation can be found in the Later Han Dynasty in 4th century), Ba Duan Jing (Song Dynasty in 10th century), etc. In Taoism, Daoyin Qigong is also known as “Medical Qigong” .

The archaeological discovery in Ma-Wang-Duei/Hunan in 1972 confirmed more than 2000 years ago Chinese dancers already have learnt to improve and maintain their flexibility and suppleness through Daoyin exercises.

In the 14th Century, Chen Style Taiji Chuan was first formed, then followed by Yang Style in the 18th/early 19th century, and then Sun, Wu, Wou Styles. Different styles of Taiji Chuan share the same principle that they blend the self-defense techniques in Wushu with Qi flow through meridian concepts into a form base exercise.

養氣致柔 “Nourishing Qi (energy) Enabling Suppleness” written in Dao Te Jing by Lao Tze is a perfect motto that we practice in Taiji Daoyin Qigong, in which we learn to listen the rhythm of our body. Taiji Daoyin Qigong is not a form based but a thorough relaxation exercise focuses on the improvement of energy flow and physical functions for better health in body, energy and mind.

Dao means “Leading” and Yin as “Guiding”, through gentle stretching, correct movements, self-massage and breathing techniques, everyone can benefit:

Relief stress from body and mind
Enhance suppleness and flexibility
Stimulate self-healing by releasing energy blocks
Strengthen inner peace and harmony

What is Qi...???

http://matter-of-spirit.com/chi.htm

Chi (Qi) is an energy sometimes described as electro-magnetic energy. It is the same energy that was released at the Big Bang; The Spirit; the Light that shines into the darkness. There be Light. The whole universe is pervaded with energy, with Spirit, which is an old word for energy. The Hebrews would say; Ruach or Neshama; spirit, wind or breath, or Chaya which is the old version of the Hebrew name for Eve; Chava, meaning life. In Japan, the word qi is written ki, and is related to the practice of Reiki. The Chinese say; Chi, which also means spirit wind or breath. They say that where Chi collects itself, a body is formed.
